The freelancer scene has gone pretty much down the drain… The Thermae Coffee Shop closes for the night at one in the morning, and there are mainly older women looking out for Farang who have just arrived with an excess of hormones (and cash). This used to be quite different. The “Grace Hotel Coffee Shop” is now dead after closing time, things used to be just livening up at two in the morning but not any more. We will just have to wait and see; maybe someday things will get back to how they were. The „NANA“ Entertainment Plaza (NEP) in Bangkok makes it clear in quite a descriptive manner what changes the Bangkok sex scene has gone through over the past few years. Of course only the scene we westerners visit, the mainly unknown but by far largest part of the red-light scene in Bangkok is chiefly frequented by Thais – is not really open to the likes of us and for this reason will not be a part of this report.
 

Years ago I quite regularly had a lot of fun in the „NANA“. Ok, everyone has a bad day now and again and dips ones hand in the shithouse, manages to get off with a bitch or one of the tarts with the sole intention of ripping someone off, but then again this was only an exception in those days. Unfortunately, these days due to the prices being demanded (short-time 3000 Baht or long-time 5000 Baht) and the declining readiness to provide a decent service or on the other hand the very poor attitude of the girls towards their job, one can in fact more or less talk about everything being a rip-off.
 

Well, almost everything anyway, because it is still possible to have a lot of fun and that at a more or less decent price. The thing is that one has to be more careful when selecting than in those days, one has to search a little longer. Not too long ago I had a little luck there a few times and ended up quite satisfied. I don’t pay any more than 2000 Baht for a bout of long-time. I mean, of course everything is getting more expensive and the service and prices are a great deal better than we can expect in our own home countries. In addition to this I have become quite spoiled through my travels of the past few years, this is something I must admit so this has to be taken into consideration when taking everything into account. Maybe I was easier to satisfy earlier on! There must be a little truth in that I think. Anyway, Bangkok cannot compete any longer against the good Gogo Bar scenes of Pattaya and Angeles City, that’s my personal opinion of things.
 

Anyway, for all of those who don’t know the „NANA“, paying a visit is compulsory, the lovely colourful lit up “world” of the U shaped three storey building where the bar are situated leaves a lasting impression…. and a visit to some of these bars as well of course. By the way, for those of you who are out looking for Gathoeys (Ladyboys), some of these bars will be just the right place to look with them only employing “Lady Men”, for example the “CASANOVA” and the “CAROUSSEL”.
 

The „NANA“ hotel has got its own disco: „NANA DISCO”, there are loads of girls to be pulled here or if you like, girls who will want to drag you off somewhere. They are mainly bar-girls who have either not got anyone for the night or are looking for a further sponsor after completing a short-time.

Hint: It’s quite nice to pay a visit to the beer bar opposite the stone staircase (next to the “LOLLIPOP”) in the „NANA“ courtyard at about six in the evening. If you do so you will be able to observe all the very shrill and less shrill girls going off to work, it’s pretty interesting and also amusing. The ladyboys – amongst them one or the other “bird of paradise” – also turn up for work on time because if they are late they end up with some of their wages being deducted. There is also some traffic in the opposite direction with the first customers leaving the „NANA“ with their beauty for the night; they mainly leave hand in hand heading towards their respective hotels. However, a “short-time” later you can also observe some of the girls returning alone. Obviously not all short-times take three hours.
